Question:
Why am I banned from your site? What did I do wrong?
Solution:
Bans aren't issued by Furry Teens for no apparent reason, but some of the messages may not be descriptive enough to tell you what you can do next. Here are all of the possible messages you could be receiving, and what you should do to resolve it.
1. AOL Email Addresses If you receive a ban message about using an AOL email address, this is because there is a server-wide policy disallowing their use. To resolve this, submit a ticket under the "Hosted Sites > Furry Teens" category with your username and what you want your email address changed to.
Note: If you received this message while trying to register an account, the creation process probably didn't complete, so just try again with the exact same username. If you receive an error that the username is taken, continue submitting a ticket.
2. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act This ban has its own knowledge base article, available here: http://hosting.lupinia.net/support/issue_view.asp?ID=21
3. Disposable Email/Throwaway Accounts If you receive a message about disposable email accounts or "throwaway" accounts, this is because we need to be able to contact our users from time to time, for things like account verification, notifications, and password recovery. So, we require you to use a real email account.
To resolve this, submit a ticket under the "Hosted Sites > Furry Teens" category with your username and what you want your email address changed to.
4. Multiple Accounts This is a big one, and the one people seem to have a hard time understanding. In order to keep the site's database as error-free and efficient as possible, and make it easier to find archived posts from a particular user, we require that all users hold a maximum of one account, unless multiple accounts are authorized by the administrators. Since we allow you to change your display name (which is the only "username" visible to non-admin members), username, and other profile fields at will, and we have this handy ticketing system for support issues, there's no reason to make more than one account anyway.
If you created a second account because of a login issue, submit a ticket under the "Hosted Sites > Furry Teens" category with your username and a description of the problem you're having. Your second account will not be un-banned.
If you created a second account because your first one was banned, look up the first ban you received to find the appeal information. Your second account will not be un-banned.
If you don't understand why you've been added to this ban, submit a ticket under the "Hosted Sites > Furry Teens" category with your username, and the reason for banning will be explained to you. Perhaps you forgot that you already created an account.
5. Vandalized Account If you're receiving this ban message, it's not because you did something wrong. This ban is applied to accounts that were deemed to be under the control of a malicious user. There are several criteria used to make this determination, which aren't revealed for security reasons, but it's usually pretty obvious when an account is compromised.
Our procedure to handle this sort of thing is to reverse any damage caused to/by the account, apply this ban to prevent further damage, and if possible, contact the original account holder. At that point, we wait to receive confirmation that the account holder wants the ban released, and we make the necessary arrangements to do so.
If you're affected by this ban, submit a ticket under the "Hosted Sites > Furry Teens" category with your username. You will probably be asked several questions on a variety of topics to determine that you are in fact the account holder, and we will need to reset the password on the account.
6. Trolling/Spamming There are several bans that fall under this category, with varying precision. Please reference the exact text of the ban message to find the correct one.
"Permanent Ban: Trolling/Spamming" To fall under this ban, your account was directly involved in an attack on the site in some form, and this ban usually can't be challenged. However, if you genuinely did not do anything to fall into this category, you may submit a ticket under the "Hosted Sites > Furry Teens" category with your username and the exact text of your ban message to inquire about the circumstances of your ban. Please note that not all tickets asking about bans in this category will be answered, and abuse of this system may result in more severe action being taken against you.
"Spammer" This ban is applied to accounts using email addresses that are associated with email spammers. This ban cannot be appealed unless you use a common mail host (ie, Yahoo, Gmail, etc). To appeal this ban, submit a ticket under the "Hosted Sites > Furry Teens" category with your username and the exact text of your ban message to inquire about the circumstances of your ban. Please note that not all tickets asking about bans in this category will be answered, and abuse of this system may result in more severe action being taken against you.
"Spammer host name/IP" This ban is applied to IP addresses and rDNS hostnames that have attempted to spam the site. This ban cannot be appealed unless your computer was recently infected with a virus and has been repaired.
"Suspected Troll, go to http://www.furryteens.org/support/ to request reinstatement." This ban means that, while your account hasn't actually done anything wrong, we have excellent reason to believe that you are involved with an attack on the site. This ban is almost never used, but if your account is affected by it, submit a ticket under the "Hosted Sites > Furry Teens" category with your username and the exact text of your ban message to inquire about the circumstances of your ban. Expect a lot of questions to establish your innocence.
7. Other Messages If your ban message isn't in this article, please submit a ticket under the "Hosted Sites > Furry Teens" category with your username and the exact text of your ban message to inquire about the circumstances of your ban.
